In history, there is always the question “what if?” What if the Greeks had lost to the Persians, what if Napoleon had conquered England, what if the Battle of Britain had been lost? In Operation Apocalypse, we ask one of the most intriguing questions of all: What if Hitler had been assassinated? This is where our story begins.

One huge mod has been released. Word is: GZM-7. Some of you might remember GZM 5.5. This is huge leap forward. Over 1500 units, some 130 maps, big number of infantry types, many buildings and objects, changed gameplay.

Have you ever heard for JNA mod? You did? Great, you will get more info about it.
You didn't? Well, let me introduce it to you.

JNA 1987 Mod is the newest creation of the young developing team. Already they have managed to amaze me. Scope of their project is fictional global conflict in 1987., with aim of presenting Yugoslav Peoples Army or Jugoslovenska Narodna Armija. Very strong army, comprised of heavy equipment, with modern doctrines, multiethnical troops with strong ideology.

Around 6 and a half years have passed since our great game Blitzkrieg went into the sales and we have got a great basis for modifying and enjoying strategy: battles with dozens of tanks, hundreds of troops, airplanes screaming while bombing from the sky - all in front of you, under your control.

For that we thank Nival and CDV for bringing us this.

I wish all of you very happy New Year, everything best in the upcoming year and many more hours ofr happines. Be sure to keep your Blitzkrieg instalation on: we are expecting many new projects come to the release. Fall Weiss, Apocalypse, JNA, GZM...we are staying here and waiting for more Blitzkrieg fun. Our devoted friends, players and modders: keep up with your work, enjoy the life and Blitzkrieg like so far.

Long live Blitzkrieg and all it's players. Cheers.

Blitzkrieg sounds-Lesson 1: infantry weapon and basic stuff

There are many sounds in Blitzkrieg: weapons, machinery, voices, buttons, field and weather etc. Let's make a new sound, shall we.

---------------------------

Objective: New MP40 sound

---------------------------

Needed:

-Sound Recorder

-video file on address http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_1FU4K6 ... re=related, open it in internet browser and wait till it's loaded(it's not long video, should load fast).

---------------------------

Preparation:

---------------------------

First, let's go to Blitzkrieg/Run/Data directory. Create new folder called Sounds. In it create folder Weapons. Then in it folder Light.

Now open Data.pak located in Data folder(in case you see only Data file go to Tools->Folder Options, then to View and then Uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types". In it, open this path Sounds->Weapons->Light and locate file called Mp40. Extract it to folder Light that you have just created. Close Data.pak

---------------------------

Execution:

---------------------------

Press right mb(mouse button) click on the file and then "Open with", then "Choose program". In the dialog click Browse. Navigate yourself to C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder. In it select sndrec32.exe and click open. Now, make sure it is selected and press OK(important: if you wish to edit WAV files with SR(Sound recorder) in future you may also select "Always use this program to open selected file type".

You have sound file opened. Go to File->Properties. You may see that it's extension is

Microsoft ADPCM 44.100 kHz, 4 Bit, Mono

We need something else. Press Convert Now and select this:

Format: PCM

Attributes: PCM 44.100 kHz, 16 Bit, Stereo

Press Ok and again Ok. Now we have sound file that could be easily modified.

Play it several times. You see the slider goes from start to the end. We will need it as well as green-black oscillator.

Now, assuming slider is on the beginning, press Edit->Delete After Current Position. Press Ok and now you have clean and empty file. Now it's time to record some sound. First, let's prepare recording options.

Go to Edit->Audio Properties. I have a microphone but this time we are doing this by not using microphone, instead using Wave. In Sound Recording press Volume and select "Wave". In case you don't see it go to Options->Properties and select it in a list. Press X and then OK. Now, this is little bit tricky. Play video on YouTube till time 00:08 seconds and there press II or Pause. Click red circle in SR to start recording and quickly press Play in YouTube video. Press Pause on 00:11 seconds, got to sound recorder and press Stop (Black square). We have sound in it. It's a burst from Mp 40. But it needs some fine tuning. Play it and check out if you have caught ENTIRE burst, if you did you may close YouTube video. Now, As Slider is on the end of sound file, move it to the left, toward beginning. You will see some broken lines going up and down: that's a sound. Also, there will be flat line: that's empty part (or very quiet part). Move slider slowly to the left until you reach quiet part. At my sound file it's around 1.56 seconds. Now, press Edit->Delete Before Current Position. That way you will delete all noise and sound before actual start of MP40 burst. Press OK. Play the sound. If there still is some empty space before burst u

repeat step until when you click Play you hear Burst at once.

One more step left. There will be some empty sound afterwards. BUT it will also contain some echo which could sound very nice. You may move slider and use Delete After Current Position option as you like.

IMPORTANT: If you don't hear the sound loud enough you may use option at Effects->Increase Volume (by 25%). As well, you may use also Decrease Volume to lower sound down.

When this is finished, press When everything is set up press File->Save.

One last thing left: go to Blitzkrieg and check out how sound works.

GENERAL NOTES: This way you may actually record ANY sound you like from another file or from microphone. That includes all sound types in Blitzkrieg except music as music files are big and long lasting. Because sound recorder stops on 60 seconds (some smart ass in Microsoft thought it will be funny to cut it up and force you to press again Record button) you may have small 1 second break in between.
